What Is GOOGLE ELLATION Charge

See, it is true that seeing Google’s name on the charge label on your credit card bill might make you feel a bit relieved because it could very well be a legitimate charge. But that’s not exactly the case with the “GOOGLE ELLATION” charge. See, Google doesn’t have anything directly to do with this charge, so make sure you do a little bit of your own due diligence to find out what it is. For the most part, we have tried to figure it out, and here is what we found.

First of All, What Is Ellation?

Ellation is something that you may not directly refer to as a website or an app but rather as a media organization that is fully designed to play an important role in the areas of billing and content distribution for different kinds of streaming services, especially when it comes to video apps. For example, you may have installed some anime or TV show applications from the Google Play application store on your mobile device or tablet, and you didn’t know that these applications use Ellation’s services.

Why Am I Being Charged by GOOGLE ELLATION?

At times, it happens that the charge from GOOGLE ELLATION and the subscription are somewhat combined and related to a premium streaming service that you either subscribed to or approved on your Android app. In this scenario, you could have downloaded an app free of charge, but afterwards, you might have chosen or tried an upgrade and opted for the premium subscription plan and this is when Ellation takes over the billing making the payment appear on your statement as GOOGLE ELLATION. In fact, it is possible that you are completely unaware that you have subscribed to the service in the first place, or it may also be an instance where the trial period has ended and subscription charges have kicked in without your consent or knowledge.

How Much Does the Charge Usually Cost?

When it comes to the charges being imposed, these service charges tend to be the same or a bit higher than the applicable service charge. These charges may range from as low as $7.99 up to around at the highest $9.99 or thereabouts, depending on the charges that the app works with. Most of these charges are monthly charges that recur until the user cancels the subscription.

What Are the Reasons Behind People Being Confused by These Charges?

There are two predominant reasons. To begin with, many subscribers fail to recall initiating a subscription within an application, and this sometimes ends up forgetting to disable the subscription. Furthermore, there are instances where users believe they effectively terminated the subscription, only to find that the cancellation process had not been successful through the Google Play Store. Consequently, this leads to expensive charges being deducted on a monthly basis, which adds to the confusion experienced by the affected parties.

How to Check If the Charge Is Legit?

You can verify the charge using the directions below:

  • Either open the Google Play Store app on your phone or visit play.google.com through a browser.
  • Access the Order History section of your account.
  • Compare the amount and date with what is written on your bank statement.
  • If it shows up there, you’re good to go, and it’s a legal charge. Done!
