We get it, seeing some weird charge with a label that doesn’t explain anything, can freak you out a bit, and that’s completely normal. The same case is with people who have recently seen something like “HELPMAXCOM.” Though it doesn’t sound as confusing as some labels that have straight-up short forms and just characters in them, this one still is not that clear. If you recently saw this charge pop up on your credit card statement, then know that this is actually related to the HBO Max streaming service. Though, there are so many people complaining that they have never signed up for HBO’s service, and this charge still shows up on their credit card statement which is a red flag right there.
Sometimes it is just a few dollars, like just $20-ish, but some people have reported it being even more than that, which is again making all the red flags go off.
Is It Tied to That Max Streaming Deal?
Well, it had to be because there is the helpmax.com website. Oh, that doesn’t exist, and this domain name has been just parked ever since 1999. So there is no way that this ghost website has charged your credit card or in some way you have signed up for their services in some way. So not possible! See, everyone here is entirely just guessing, and no one can say for sure that this charge is only related to the Max Streaming service because there are so many people out there who don’t even have a subscription to Max Streaming service or HBO, but they’re still seeing this charge, and that too, over and over again.
How Legit Is This Charge Anyway?
Remember we told you that this charge appears to be shady to a lot of people out there? Oh yes, that’s just because it is a shady charge, and you should do something about it. The number one reason is that first of all, there isn’t any helpmax.com company or website or anything like that. And not just that, if Max Streaming service had to charge your credit card, they wouldn’t label it something like “HELPMAXCOM” right? They would use something like “Max.com” or “HBO” or something like that on the label. If you want to confirm it on your own, just go to the helpmax.com web address and you’ll know yourself right away.
But nah, with this one, it isn’t the case, and that’s precisely why we’re saying that it is a scam charge or something fishy is going out there with your credit card details. Maybe somebody else has access to your card or it could be that your credit card details got leaked in some way.
So Now?
Well, we’d certainly recommend you to do something about it. And what’s that? See, first of all, pick up your phone and call your bank people or the credit card company and let them know about this charge. They’ll certainly help you out, and be prepared if your credit card is blocked because they’ll issue a new one to you.
